Golf Classic.
Circleville, OH -- October 12, 2007
Ruth E. Messick, Executive Director of the Berger Health Foundation, proudly announces that the Foundation's recent Golf Classic
raised more than $91,000. The fourth annual event was held last month at the Foxfire Golf Course in Northern Pickaway County.
"A month before the event, we had to start a waiting list for golf foursomes, because sponsors and community members had made
commitments to fill the maximum 72 teams that Foxfire's two courses could accommodate," said Messick.
More than $68,000 was raised from sponsorships alone, with an additional $23,000 coming from players' fees, games, a silent
auction and outright donations. The teams participating represented businesses throughout Central Ohio, including a number
from in and around Circleville.
Event sponsors included Constance Care Home Healthcare, Solid Rock Builders & Developers, Inc. and CBIZ Benefits Consultants.
Fifth Third Bank served as dinner sponsor for the nearly 300 golfers, volunteers and guests, while Morgan Stanley,
Healthplex/Trinity/Miles-McClellan Team and Berger Health System sponsored a cookout lunch on the clubhouse lawn.
National City Bank and Riverside Radiology served as scoreboard and scorecard sponsors, and Mount Carmel Health System provided
additional sponsorship. Aim High Medical LLC, the Jon Veith Family and Robert Dorsey Insurance sponsored the $10,000 holes-in-one on the
two courses. Vending Unlimited and Amanda Springs supplied significant donations of beverages, and Gordon Food Service provided a
fabulous dessert for the evening.
"Additional contributions from dozens of very supportive businesses provided silent auction items, event signage, first-aid kits for
golfers, hydrotherapy massages, movie tickets, and more," explained Messick.
Berger Health Foundation Board member Robert "Rob" Sneed chaired the planning committee, which included other Board members, Berger Health
System staff and community volunteers. More than 70 individuals worked over the past year to plan and carry out the golf outing.
The proceeds from this event make possible the on-going strategic work of the Berger Health Foundation. The Foundation is a 501(c)(3)
charitable organization formed in 2004. It perpetuates the legacy of philanthropy and programmatic growth for healthcare and wellness in
and around Pickaway County as envisioned and delivered by Berger Health System. The Foundation supports such areas as Berger Hospice Care,
Circle of Caring-Faith in Action and Bradley Cancer Center. In addition, the Foundation provides scholarship assistance, free baseline
mammography and assistance with the cost of medication.
