Circleville, OH -- October 12, 2007
The Pickaway Country Club presented a check for $11,000 to Bradley Cancer Center this week. The gift represents the proceeds of the
second annual Pickaway Country Club Charity Breast Center Golf Outing held in August.
Twenty-two teams participated in this year's event. Members of the Pickaway Country Club Social Committee determined they wanted to make
a difference in the lives of those impacted by breast cancer in their community. Since that time, patients of the Bradley Cancer Center
have received assistance with the costs of medication, comfort items such as wigs and prostheses, and even baseline mammography.
Event organizers Debbie Hines and Sheila Beaver indicated, "We wanted to make sure that those in our community dealing with breast
cancer know they have a place they can get help in ways they won't find anywhere else."
"Members, management and staff of the Pickaway County Club all came together to host a remarkable event," said Ruth Messick, Executive
Director of Berger Health Foundation. "As people arrived, they were pulling out their wallets and checkbooks, wanting to provide
additional sponsorships or give a little extra."
Prior to the fundraiser, a guest of the Club saw the signs for the cause and contributed a personal donation of $1,000. "Support like this,
and knowing it goes to help our local folks, makes it all worthwhile," said the Club's General Manager, John Hendrick.
The Bradley Cancer Center is a comprehensive treatment center with extensive facilities and capabilities. The Center operates in a closely
coordinated effort led by medical oncologist Sushil Jain, M.D. Located at Berger Hospital in Circleville, Bradley Cancer Center opened its
doors in 2006, and has since served more than 1,000 patients throughout Pickaway County.
Gifts to the Bradley Cancer Center are received and administered by Berger Health Foundation. The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable
organization formed in 2004. It perpetuates the legacy of philanthropy and programmatic growth for healthcare and wellness in and around
Pickaway County as envisioned and delivered by Berger Health System.
