Berger Health Foundation Receives Final Grant Installment from Breast Cancer Fund of Ohio

September 4, 2008 - Circleville, OH Ruth Messick, Executive Director of Berger Health Foundation, announced that the Breast Cancer Fund of Ohio recently awarded the Foundation the final installment of a $5,000 grant to be used in support of local residents with breast cancer.

BreastCancerFundDonationSept08The dollars are available to assist patients with housing, transportation and medical costs. The first installment, received earlier in 2008, has enabled the Foundation to provide support to women from Pickaway County and several surrounding areas.

"We are very excited to have these dollars available," said Messick. "This gift will have a huge impact on our ability to serve more people in the community."

Twenty-eight area women have received support from the Foundation for breast cancer related concerns so far this year.

The Breast Cancer Fund of Ohio, which receives its income through the sales of the Breast Cancer License Plate, was formed by breast cancer survivors. One out of every eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. Currently, more than 130,000 Ohioans are living with the disease.
